SR22 Insurance FAQs
If your drivers license has been suspended due to a DUI conviction, particularly if you are a first-time offender, you will probably qualify for a restricted license. However, to obtain your restricted license, you must first secure a California SR-22 insurance certificate.
For California SR-22 insurance, you must purchase a high risk insurance policy from a carrier that offers this type of policy. When you purchase the policy, notify the insurance agent that you need SR-22 insurance. The SR-22 is not part of your policy, but rather it is a statement from your insurance carrier that you carry at least the minimum amount of coverage required by the state.
No. At this time, the state of California does not certify any online programs. You must physically attend one of the approved schools.
